Parents are essential to the success of a FIRST Robotics team. Your support not only helps in logistical aspects but also enriches the overall experience for students.

Key Roles of Parents

Logistics and Organization

  • Meal Coordination: Organizing and sometimes cooking meals for team members during build season and competitions.
  • Travel Coordination: Arranging transportation, booking hotels, and managing travel logistics for competitions.
  • Fundraising: Helping to raise funds through various activities to support team expenses.

Mentorship and Support

  • Technical Assistance: Providing guidance in areas where they have expertise, such as engineering or programming.
  • Team Mentoring: Acting as mentors to students, offering support and encouragement throughout the season.
  • Chaperoning: Supervising students during competitions and events to ensure safety and organization.

Community Building

  • Boosters and Support Groups: Forming parent booster clubs to enhance communication and support for the team.
  • Event Organization: Helping to organize team events, such as end-of-year banquets or community outreach activities.

Please consider joining out team as a mentor or volunteer at a FRIST event.  No expertise is needed to provide valuable contribution.

 

Student Expectations

Student Expectations:

  • Contribute to the success of the team – be actively involved.
  • Be committed to giving back to the community.
  • Determine your level of involvement and do that consistently.
  • Try new things and encourage teammates to do the same.
  • Learn and develop competency in skills.
  • Exhibit Gracious Professionalism, behaving in a courteous and respectful manner, showing good sportsmanship, teamwork, positive attitude, and support for others.
